The Burford Holly is a compact grower. Miniature version of one of the most popular hollies. Prolific bearer of large, bright red berries without a pollenizer present, though heavier with a pollenizer. Evergreen hedge or border specimen.
This evergreen shrub has small leaves with shiny green foliage, and a globe shape growth habit. It produces small white flowers that bloom in spring and bright red berries fall through winter. It grows up to 5-6 feet tall. Ideally used as hedge and border specimen.
This slow-growing evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. The first year of growth requires watering weekly. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Once mature, shearing is recommended to maintain desired shape.
The Dwarf Burford Holly is great for low maintenance landscapes and adds a burst of rich green color all year around. The shrub features clusters of showy and fragrant white blooms in the springtime and large red berries during fall and winter. The berries can be an important food source for birds in late winter.
