Ornamental grass seeds can be sown in the spring after danger of frost has passed. The perennials will typically be dormant in winter and can be cut back in spring when new growth is showing.
Hordeium jubatum is also known as Squirrel Tail Grass. It has highly attractive flower heads that are in shades of pink and white.
Start the seed indoors 4 – 6 weeks before the last expected frost date in the spring. Cover with 1/8 inch of soil and keep the seed moist. With a temperature of 70F, germination usually occurs in 14 days. Transplant outdoors and space 18 inches apart.
